Hi,
I'm not a nurse but I've been a cancer patient for many years. I just wanted to share my experience whilst you wait for the nurses to come back tomorrow & answer your question.
I have no experience of mounjaro I'm afraid but I have had acute pancreatitis - it was caused by an endoscopy to remove a stone stuck in my bile duct (it happens to 2% of patients). I was told that the chance of getting pancreatic cancer after having acute pancreatitis is not common - it's usually acute patients that progress to chronic pancreatitis that are more at risk. Have you been diagnosed with pancreatitis? My diagnosis was in December 2021 - it took me a year to recover & I still get the odd twinge.

Hi ,I have just got out of hospital after Pancreatitis and gallbladder infection ,it was awful the surgeon came to talk to me about having my gallbladder removed but I decided against it until I know more about it ,I asked him about whether having gallstones etc can cause cancer because I'd just read that ,but he said it was very very rare so it put my mind at ease .
I'm sorry to hear this - pancreatitis and an infected gallbladder is an awful thing to have. I suffered from pains for some time & then was rushed into hospital with an infected gallbladder. They kept me in & it was removed. I was brilliant for 12 months & then the same pains started again. Turned out to be a stone stuck in my bile duct. Had an ERCP to remove it but later that day was back in hospital with pancreatitis. Also got pneumonia so was in hospital for 3 weeks and it took a year to recover (lost 4 stone). I'm now fully recovered & have had no problems over the last 3 years.
Cancer from gallstones is very rare - there is more chance you will get poorly again from them infecting your gallbladder, so I would strongly think about it's removal as it could set pancreatitis off again.
Hi there and thanks for the post
I am sorry to hear you have had pancreatitis, that must have been very unpleasant for you.
I am not sure you will get the replies you were hoping for as this is a forum for people affected by cancer, rather than people who have taken weight loss injections.
However to answer 1of your questions, chronic pancreatitis can sometimes increase the risk of a person developing cancer in the future but this is often caused by drinking alcohol in excess and not everyone will definitely go on to get cancer.
It is important to talk through any concerns or ongoing symptoms with your doctor so they can assess you properly.
Wishing you all the best
Naomi
