Breast cancer - I'm only having my surgery now despite being diagnosed in June. Is this normal?

I had a mammaogram result in June, a biopsy at the end of July  and I’m only just going for surgery next week. It seems a long wait when a friend of mine is getting bowel cancer treatment within a month

    I am sorry to hear that you have had such a long wait for surgery in comparison to your friend's time scale. Some types of cancers are more aggressive than others and need to be treated as a priority. There are also different stages and grades of breast cancer. Do you know what stage and type of breast cancer you have? This may be why you haven't been rushed through for surgery. I do hope that all goes well for you next week.
