KRAS mutation found what does that mean ?

Hi

I could really do with some clarity please.

a new test result has appeared from one of the many ! However I had a right lower lobectomy on the 27th of August and some lymph nodes removed.

i am concerned that this now may mean I might need further treatment?

this test has come from a lung biopsy which was done back in July - I am still waiting for lymph nodes removed results .

could someone please explain it for me ?

  • I have the same mutation. KRAS G12C for NSCLC stage 3. I have had chemo radiotherapy and immunotherapy. I was on Pembroluzimab (keytruda)which unfortunately stopped working as I had mets to my C1 and brain. Because of the mutation I am now on a targeted therapy which is tablets.I take 8 a day. Only been on it for 3 weeks but so far so good. Had additional radiotherapy on my neck in July and on my brain last Thursday. Just got to wait for the next lot of scans and fingers crossed. Hope you get your results soon.

  • Hi there , thank you for sharing that , really appreciate it - did you have part of the lung removed also ? I had half my right lung removed via VATs 3 weeks ago yesterday- I’m stage 1 with a 35mm growth , I’ve had no symptoms whatsoever- I have now after surgery though during recovery

  • I unfortunately can't have surgery. I am inoperable, incurable but treatable ‍ ️

  • I’m sorry to hear that - but I’m also glad you are treatable - are you able to give life a good go at the moment ?   I really hope you get the best news in your next round of tests - please let me know how you get on

  • Thank you. Just feeling a bit fatigued from the brain radiotherapy. On steroids which are now being reduced so mega lack of energy today. Definitely giving life a good go. I used to run and had just completed the London Marathon when I was diagnosed in May 2024 and I have managed to get back on my treadmill which makes me very happy. Will keep on keeping on and do what brings me joy every day. X
