Panicking about meeting after ultrasound

Hi. Not sure if you can help but I need someone to talk to.  My doctor sent me for an ultrasound after I had 2 spots of blood on my pants.  It only happened once and stopped as soon as it started.  She did an internal examination and said she didn’t think there was anything to worry about.  I had my ultrasound last Tuesday afternoon and early next morning I was phoned to make a meeting with a gynaecologist in out patients.  No reason why was given. My appointment is on Monday so I’ve had 4 days of panicking with more days to go before I get an answer.  I am panicking so much I can’t eat feel sick and my stomach is in knots.  I’m imagining all sorts.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I see you are attending the hospital today. You may now have more information about your situation.

The important thing to remember is that going to see a gynaecologist doesn't automatically mean that something serious is wrong. GP's often make these referrals simply so that the right specialist can have a proper look and give you the best advice.

I hope you get more clarity on your situation today. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
