Effects radiotherapy for prostrate cancer

Finished radiotherapy 7.3.25 have been feeling OK apart from diarrhoea  which now seems to settled down due to changing diet and medication  .Last week had two days just very tired  no energy.Still do my walks everyday and Potter around in the garden.Today done a bit shopping now feeling the same again just tired.Is this the effects of the treatment  lm 75 next week could it be age related? See Doctor 11.6.25 then next injection. 19.6.25 .Most days feel OK sleep usually interrupted during night sometimes  two to three time.Just like to know are these normal symptoms after radiotherapy  for prostrate cancer thanks in advance .

    Hi Piintail2024, and a warm welcome to the forum, I'm sorry you have prostate cancer and have to be here, but I can not only tell you your side effects are perfectly normal, you're fortunate to have got away relativily lightly.

    The tiredness, or fatigue as it is known is very common, just keeping your exercises up is the best way through it, I'm assuming getting up in the night 2 to 3 times is to pee, this too is common, ask your nurse about exercises to tighten up your sphincters and muscles that control your urethra, try having your last drink of the day a little earlier, but DON'T cut back, it's important to drink plenty, cutting out caffeine, alcohol and carbonated drinks while your bony recovers rom radiotherapy will also help, not for everyone I know but I also did pilates, which strengthens your inner core, lower abdomen, best wishes.

    I am sorry to hear about your situation and appreciate it can be a worry.

    The treatments you have had can take a toll on your body even months after treatment has finished. The side effects like tiredness, bladder symptoms, and diarrhoea are unfortunately quite common, and they can linger on for a while. 

     We have some information on our website about fatigue and tips on how to manage it, such as doing a form of gentle exercise, getting enough rest and eating a good diet.

    Prostate Cancer UK have useful advice on how to cope with urinary symptoms if that is what is keeping you from a good nights sleep.

    I recommend discussing your ongoing symptoms with your nurse specialist or hospital specialist. They maybe able to advise you further.
