I am sorry to hear about your dad.

It is difficult to be able to say too much without being involved in your dad's care and also not knowing much about his cancer.

You are better discussing this with your dad or getting permission from him to talk to his doctors or his cancer nurse.

If your dad has recently been diagnosed with stomach cancer the doctors will want to see how well he responds to the chemotherapy. He will be monitored regularly with scans and blood tests and this will give the doctors a good idea as to how he is responding to the treatment.

If the cancer has spread as in your dad's case the aim will be to control the cancer for as long as possible.
