Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer

Mum has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer that has spread to petrionium. 
we have had very little information or support so far. 
she is currently in hospital but the dr keeps saying they are respiritary dr so not a specialist. 
From her symptoms we think she is stage 4. She has had significant fluid in lungs and stomach which is being drained. On oxygen perm. They have told us not well enough for treatment.

MTD meetings happened. 

How do we find out any information? No-one had told us what stage it is it, how long we have left with mum, what that might look like etc. we have tried to ask but the respiratory dr in the hospital just says not his specialist so we don’t know where to turn to for answers?

    I'm sorry you're having to deal with this . We found ourselves very anxious about the stagjng and prognosis for my hubby .We knew it was terminal but  no one would give a timescale..That is until we rang the GP . You need to know the name of the oncologist your Mum is under  and there should be a CNS as your contact..Hope you get more  info.soon ..Don't forget the NHS app  which allows you to see some of the details .of your Mum's case .

    I am sorry to learn of your mum's situation it must be a difficult time for you all.

    I appreciate waiting can be a difficult and stressful time. Only the doctors and nurses who know your mum can say what her exact situation is. Now that the MDT has happened, hopefully, you will not need to wait too much longer to find out more information.

    The doctors can only talk about a person's outcome generally based on their own experience of looking after people in a similar situation, a lot will depend on how far the cancer has spread, and whether or not your mum has other health conditions.

    As Zillah has mentioned you may find it helpful to speak with the oncologist's secretary to see if they can give you a timescale of how long it will be before you speak with someone and whether in the meantime there is a nurse specialist you could speak with.
