Post Lymphadenectomy and lumpectomy pain soreness and headache

I am 6 weeks post surgery for hormone receptive breast cancer .
Both my surgery scars site are doing well but I am having a persistent headache , neck pain this week and have sore spots in odd places around my body e.g inner thigh next to knee , right side of one foot ,  inner elbows and mid right side of chest . I’m not sure whether to go to my gp or ring the cancer nurses in my hospital as I have been handed over to radiology and will see them end of Jan.

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

Whilst you are healing from breast surgery different feelings and sensations can happen. As nerves and tissues come together, and the body heals it is good to be aware of what feels unusual. we also may notice more changes in our bodies than we normally would as our awareness is heightened, this is normal and to be expected. .

If you feel unwell or are concerned that you are not improving as the days pass then do contact your breast cancer nurses and explain what is happening. They will decide if these are symptoms that need reviewing an investigating further or if they are able to stick with seeing you in a few weeks time.

Take care and if you want to talk anything through then call the helpline on 0808 8004040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.
