Hi Paul, my prostate radiotherapy was aggressive and a 50 mile round trip x 20, and though I'm sure I would have been fine on public transport, because of urinary issues at the time, I could need the loo at any time, so a hour on a bus would have been difficult for me,.PS, my cancer hospital has a charity transport there, that offers a free door to door service. best wishes with your treatment.

Hello and thanks for posting,
You can get more tired midway onwards through the treatment course. Especially if you have side effects from the treatment, such as needing the toilet more often. So, you might manage the bus early on in the treatment course, but find car travel easier as treatment progresses.
You can ask the radiographers for an appointment time to suit you. They will do their best, but some departments might be very busy. Some radiotherapy departments are open from 7am till 9pm.
Car parking can be difficult at hospitals. You can ask the radiotherapy staff if they can give you:
a hospital parking permit for free parkingadvice on discounted parkingtips on free places to park nearby
The radiotherapy staff can usually help to arrange transport for you if you need help with travelling. This usually has to be agreed with your radiotherapy doctor. It is only for people that would struggle using public transport and have no access to a car. It might not always be at convenient times.
Some hospitals have their own drivers and local charities might offer hospital transport. So do ask if any help is available in your area.
I hope this helps,
Best wishes,
Vanda
