Since the strain of flu changes each year, it is recommended that you get a flu vaccine annually to stay protected. As you had your last flu vaccine in February that would have covered you for last year’s flu strain. Flu season normally starts in the autumn / winter period. While getting vaccinated in autumn is ideal, getting vaccinated later in the year is still advisable.

It does take about 10 days after vaccination to develop full immunity. Obviously anyone being treated for cancer normally seeks advice from their hospital specialist. Do you have a nurse specialist you can talk to?

If you have completed treatment, and your hospital specialist advises the flu vaccine then you should get this free at your GP surgery.
