Hi Mickymac, I had the hysteroscopy at the beginning of November,  I didn’t have a GA, I had it without it,  it was a bit uncomfortable but I just  sat there and watched it on the monitor, what they were looking at. They had taken a scraping for a biopsy, I got both results, within  4 weeks due to a backlog, I have endometriosis , and I have endometrial cancer they caught my cancer very early. I met the surgeon who is going to do my operation, I am having a full hysterectomy, to have my womb, my cervix and my ovaries removed. I am going into hospital on the 16th December to have my operation. I must admit I am very scared, but at least I have the support of my family and friends behind me to wish me luck.

Wishing you the best minniemouse, can I ask if you know why they decided on removing cervix as well ? Glad you’ve got family and friends behind you, I will too if I need it, but what no one can help me with with all these appointments etc is being self employed it will wreck my business as clients are hard to gain but jump ship all to easily if you don’t meet their needs. 18 years of creating something that could be ruined in a few months just as youngest has decided to go to uni next year, Never thought we’d be reduced to baked bean suppers again, but can see if happening as will be just outside parameters for financial help.never a good time but this is worst. I hope it goes smoother for you.

I am sorry to hear about your concerns. it is difficult without being involved in your care to know what your doctors will say if you ask for an immediate hysterectomy.

The doctors normally would like to assess a woman's womb before proceeding to this surgery.

It is really only when the pathologist looks at the cells (from any biopsies that are taken) under a microscope that they can say for certain whether cancer is present.

If the doctors are considering a hysterectomy they will also want to assess your general health and your anaesthetic risk if you are over weight as you say.

Do discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Morning Lyns21, I’m glad I had the hysteroscopy. Because without the diagnosis and the biopsy, that they had found the cancer, and I had left it alone, they said that I will not be here in 2yrs time , and it would be too late. I couldn’t go through this with chemotherapy. It was bad enough to watch my mum having chemotherapy. My cancer was a low grade, and that is why I decided to have all the tests and have the full hysterectomy. You don’t have long scars anymore, it is all done by laparoscopic robotic keyhole surgery, where you stay in overnight and you recover quickly. Please have all the tests, biopsies and the hysteroscopy. It will save your life.
