There is no known evidence that following a “sugar ( glucose) -free” diet lowers the risk of getting cancer, or boosts the chances of surviving it when you are diagnosed. 

The idea of starving cancer cells by reducing glucose is based on the understanding that many cancer cells use more glucose than regular cells to grow. However, reducing glucose can also put healthy cells under stress and might impact your energy levels which can sometimes affect the immune system. As BCG relies on your immune response it's probably best not to interfere with this process. You can read more about sugar and cancer on our science blog.

We would always recommend that you talk this through with your specialist team.  If you have a specialist nurse (CNS) involved in your care then perhaps they can advise you further. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.
