CA125 raised

Hi

For almost 3 years I have had issues with my stomach and lose stools , feeling bloated, nausea, trapped wind, lose stools “this symptoms can vary day to day, sometimes I can have a week or two of feeling fine then it all comes back again. I have been to the GP 7 times my bloods come back with Raised CA125 everytime currently at 74, tomorrow im having my 5th ultra sound, these have always come back clear, this time the doctor is saying they will refer me to a Gynaecologist. I’m so worried I have ovarian cancer and the fact it’s been nearly 3 years and they still have not found anything is scary me so much. I’m only 32 and have to young boys and all I can’t think of is that I won’t get to see them grow up.

cancer doesn’t run in the family.

I don’t think it’s Endometriosis because I’m not in pain, no bleeding because I’m taking cerelle pill and before taking that my period we’re not bad.

Any positive advice would be appreciated

  • Hi, i hope your well, I just wondered if you ever got to the bottom of what was wrong ?  I’m 36, 6 children and have been experiencing bloating, pain and discomfort aswel as occasional spotting, doctors ordered tests ans my ca125 came back as 61.. I am now of course freaking out and have been referred for urgent scan, however they have said it’s likely after Xmas ( Xmas is now ruined with worry anyway)

    thanks x

  • Hello Beckiet3 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your concerns and I can understand that you are worried about the wait for your scan.

As Nurse Jemma has said to the previous forum member there are many different causes for why the CA125 is raised and it is not common to be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in your 30's

The CA125 test is not a test to diagnose cancer but if it is high then more tests need to be done to help rule it out. Endometriosis, menstruation, pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease are just some of the non cancerous conditions that may be the cause.

We have more information about this on the lab test on line website.

It is also difficult to compare yourself to other forum members as everyone's situation is very different.

Do try and keep yourself busy and your mind occupied on other things to try and forget about it all until the New Year.

I do hope everything goes well when you have your scan.

If you want to talk any of this through with one of the helpline nurses then your welcome to give us a call.

Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the nurses are here Monday to Friday 9 am to 5pm. We are closed on Christmas Eve and the other bank holiday days.

    All the best,
