CA125 raised

Hi

For almost 3 years I have had issues with my stomach and lose stools , feeling bloated, nausea, trapped wind, lose stools “this symptoms can vary day to day, sometimes I can have a week or two of feeling fine then it all comes back again. I have been to the GP 7 times my bloods come back with Raised CA125 everytime currently at 74, tomorrow im having my 5th ultra sound, these have always come back clear, this time the doctor is saying they will refer me to a Gynaecologist. I’m so worried I have ovarian cancer and the fact it’s been nearly 3 years and they still have not found anything is scary me so much. I’m only 32 and have to young boys and all I can’t think of is that I won’t get to see them grow up.

cancer doesn’t run in the family.

I don’t think it’s Endometriosis because I’m not in pain, no bleeding because I’m taking cerelle pill and before taking that my period we’re not bad.

Any positive advice would be appreciated

  • Hi Meljay1991 and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you are having symptoms that are causing you a lot of concern.

I know you have been having the symptoms for 3 years but It is good that you have now been referred to a gynaecologist because they specialise in treating reproductive health. It is also good to hear that your ultrasound scans have been clear.

I wondered if your GP is aware of your concerns. It is important to know that there can be many causes of a raised CA125 not necessarily cancer for example, endometriosis and fibroids. We cannot say what is causing your symptoms but it is worth knowing that ovarian cancer under the age of 40 is uncommon.

I hope you have some support at this time from family or friends and can talk through your concerns. Easier said than done but try not to overthink things.

I hope you do not have to wait too long for an appointment with the gynaecologist.

Please feel free to get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Jemma
