Night time sleeping

I've just started my 2nd cycle if chemo which I'm having every week. I really struggle to sleep st night and it's getting me down. I'm mentally and physically exhausted by this and although I try an not nap in the day I really struggle to sleep well. Maybe 4-5 hours of broken sleep a night. Do you have any advice please

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Sleep disturbance is more common in the general population than we realise. Do let your hospital team know about it too, they may be able to tweak your current medications, or suggest short term sleeping tablets.

There is good information on the Every Mind Matters website Also the NHS has information on insomnia

Tips include having a milky drink, hot bath, and reading a book, or listening to music or podcasts, rather than phone or TV use before sleep. Some people use aromatherapy oils to help relax and promote sleep.

    I hope this helps,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
