2nd stage Prostate cancer

I really don't understand what is meant by " 2nd Stage"

Is there a prognosis?

  • Hi Tyty, and welcome, you have been given a  diagnosis, T2 "2nd stage", and your prognosis for T2 prostate cancer is excellent, as your cancer has been caught very early any treatment you have will be to cure, your stage is 100% curable.

  • Hello Tyty and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I can understand that the jargon that is used to describe a cancer can be very confusing.

You may find it helpful to look at our page on our website about TNM staging.

As you can see T stands for the tumour stage, N stands for whether there are any lymph nodes involved and M stands for whether the cancer has metastasised (travelled) to another part of the body.

As your tumour was described as stage 2 this means that the cancer is completely inside the prostate gland.

You may also find that it is helpful to look at our page on decisions about treatment

I can understand that there is so much to take on board. Do have a read through the various links so you have more of an understanding when you see the doctors. You may have been given a prostate cancer nurse who will be able to explain more about your next steps.

You are also welcome to ring and chat through any of this with one of the helpline nurses. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Catherine
