I can understand how stressful it can be waiting for results but I am afraid I can't say why you are waiting an extra week. It is usually 2 radiographers  who check the results of the mammogram and it maybe that there are a lot of mammograms to check in the department. The biopsy will go to the pathologist where they will look at the sample under a microscope. 

Try not to think the worst if you can. Many women seen through screening don't end up being diagnosed with cancer but it is important that any lump is thoroughly investigated.

I'm waiting on results after being told it's very likely breast cancer but this will give me details about what type, grade, stage etc. My consultant said it could be delayed if MDT doesn't have time to discuss first week after results are back, if pathologist is busy, if staff holidays etc. Basically told me to expect a week delay. I don't think it means it's any more likely to be cancer if it takes longer.
