I have had a catheter for nine weeks. My urine has changed to a real dark colour and not alot is coming out . This is after a prostectomy on 07/07/2024. Is there any reason for this. I have had a uti before I think I might have it again

Hi Winter1, you should see your doctor, if you become unable to pass any urine then I suggest A+E,
Eddie
Thanks Eddie I went to see a my GP on Friday but they were not sure what to treat me for .gave me some antibiotics for urine infection. I did a urine sample.
And a swab as there is some bile coming out from were my catheter gose in . But unfortunately was to late to get them in for testing as it's the weekend. So suppose wait until Monday and hopefully get to see someone. Wich can be a challenge as you are probably well aware
Winter1
Hi Winter1, your welcome, I had a catheter in after my TURP and ended p in A+E when all the scabs came away together, followed by a bout of haematuria, so always be careful. I'm fortunate with seeing someone, I have an open door policy with urology, 2 wonderful GPs, district nurse, my palliative care team and the oncologist at my hospice.
Eddie
Hello and thanks for posting,
I can understand your concern. Do try and drink fluids regularly as dehydration can make urine dark. When the weather is warmer, you need to aim to drink at least 2 litres of fluid a day. If you are having difficulty passing urine, then let your GP, or hospital team know promptly. Your GP can send a district community nurse to see you at home and they can assess your catheter. You can also ring NHS 111 for urgent medical advice.
I hope that you are able to get help with this soon.
Best wishes,
Vanda
