My father in law has cancer and is on basic pension he is struggling financially and also not looking after himself. Is there any benefit he could claim and help he could receive. He doesn't have a lot of help so any advice would be appreciated.
Is he claiming Attendance Allowance? If not, take a look at this website as it sounds like he will be eligible if he's not looking after himself. He doesn't need to use it for carers but he may find having at least a couple of visits a week may help him with bathing & changing into clean clothes etc. Citizen's Advice or Macmillan will help him complete the application form (it's not means tested). www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance
Macmillan has afinancial support teamwho can go through any benefits that your father in law may be suitable for.

It may be that your father-in-law has a specialist nurse (CNS) or a Maggies/Macmillan centre where he is being treated who would also be aware of this information.
