What a rollercoaster this is turning out to be. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. Her surgery was meant to be 03.05.24 for a lumpectomy. She went on Friday for a pre op. Over the weekend she started to feel unwell and yesterday she tested positive for covid. She called up the hospital this morning and they said that they would have been in touch in any case as her white blood cell count was very low. She has a history of a low white blood cell count but we are guessing that covid has lowered this further. Surgery has now been postponed. Does anyone have an idea where things go now? I've read that in some instances medical professionals like to wait two months after covid. This would be awful, as my mum desperately wants to get surgery done so she can try and move forward. In saying that, I understand that the risks re anaesthetic increase after covid, so I understand that this needs to be taken into account.
Any advice would be gratefully received as I really don't know where we go from here.
