I am sorry to learn that your daughter had a recent above-knee amputation because of synovial sarcoma, this must be a difficult time.

As nurses not involved in your daughter's care unfortunately we are unable to say whether or not the cancer may come back.

It will depend on several factors such as the stage and grade of the cancer, the size of the cancer, and how far it has spread. If it has gone into nearby lymph nodes or elsewhere in the body. How abnormal the cancer cells are, how fast-growing they are,  how well the surgery went, and whether the doctors felt they had removed all the cancer.

Your daughter will be followed up closely, and she must let the team at the hospital know whether she has any new persisting symptoms that are causing her concern. If it is possible with your daughter's permission, the best person to discuss this with would be her nurse specialist (CNS) as they know her situation.
