I am sorry to hear you are undergoing some tests and appreciate what a worrying time this must be for you.

A positive FIT test means that some microscopic ( that cannot be seen) blood has been found in the stools that needs looking into. There can be many reasons for this other than cancer but only further tests such as a colonoscopy that passes a camera up the back passage to take a look can give more information about this.

I'm afraid we cannot say what the risk of you having cancer is, and unfortunately it is a matter of a waiting game in finding out more.

People say keeping busy and your mind on other things can help so try and do this if you can.

Hi Isabel129 I can really relate to how you are feeling as I’m going through the same thing. I was referred for a colonoscopy and thankfully didn’t have to wait for an appointment. I’m due to get results this week as to what happens next. It’s the waiting and unknown that is the real problem. Do you have anyone to share your worries with? I try to keep busy and stick to my normal routines if I can. Don’t google anything!! This forum has been a great help to me and I’m always willing to talk if it helps. Take care of yourself. 

Yes I have my daughter. I don't know how long I will need to wait for the colonoscopy.  GP said on Fri that she was going to refer me. I wouldn't have known anything until I went to get my nails done and they had started to lift from nailbed. So went to see GP she took nail samples which came back normal and took bloods. They came back ok apart from my iron storage being low so asked for stool sample. Phoned me saying it was positive and she was sending me for colonoscopy.  That was all u was told. I'm on iron tablets and I feel fine apart from a bit of constipation and dark poo
