Hello Dicha and thanks for posting
People tend to take Letrozole for 5 years which is the recommended duration unless the cancer comes back before the 5 years is up. The research suggests that the Letrozole continues to work even after it finishes and there is no benefit for people taking it longer than this.
If you have concerns about a change in your breast then do get this checked out by your GP or breast unit just to be on the safe side and for your own peace of mind.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Best wishes
Naomi
Thank you. I have been told that the letrozole stay in your body for several years. Is this true please
Hello again
Yes there is evidence to suggest that Letrozole continues to reduce the risk of cancer coming back even after the patient stops taking it. There is more information about this on Breast Cancer Now pages.
I hope this helps
Take care
