Anal lesion excision

I had a lump removed from a site right next to my anus. I'm 8 days post surgery. It's very difficult to keep the area dry as the wound is still weeping clear pink fluid.

Are there any special dressings that might help or do you have any suggestions to help keep the area clean & dry?

Thank you

Marjay

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I think we may have spoken on the phone earlier, but if not do clean the area when you can and allow it to dry naturally. Any dressings would need to be non-stick, so do discuss them with your pharmacist or hospital team.

The wound will heal in time, but if you feel the area gets red, warm to touch, smells strong or the fluid changes colour, then do contact your GP or the hospital team.

We have information on anal examinations and biopsies on our website if helpful.

    Take care

    Sarah.
