Hi, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, it is so scary to hear this news. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in January and it feels like an emotional roller coaster. Special care nurses and macmillan nurses have been great and are always available to give reassurance. I am due to start chemo on Monday and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive at the moment. Always here if you need a chat. Xx
I am the worst at always thinking the worst will happen. How do you stay positive? Xx
Luckily my husband is a very positive person, I try my best to follow his lead, not always easy though. I'm the worrier in the house, which can be exhausting, so I do try and keep busy. I've been focusing on eating as healthy as possible leading up to treatment. I feel that if I'm in the best shape I can be, it'll give me a better chance to fight this thing. I want to be around to see my grandkids grow up. This week is a little tough, as although I want to get the treatment started, I'm really apprehensive about all the side effects. I don't even feel ill at the moment, but of course that will change.i have gone a bit mad spring cleaning the house during the last week, to distract myself. I've cleaned the oven, washed curtains and cleaned windows, jobs I may not feel like doing in the coming weeks. I've also got organised with all the things I might need during treatment. Bought myself a smoothie maker, in case my mouth is sore. Neck pillow to use during treatment. My son has helped me put music on my phone and I bought a set of headphones. Got my hair cut short yesterday, thought it would be easier to cope with mentally, when losing it.. Also went to the wig shop and chose a wig that I'm happy with and bought a couple of hats online. I've decided to try and get out for a walk each day after treatment, even if it's just a short one. Must be better than moping about feeling sorry for myself. Will have to see how that goes! I wish you good luck with everything, I'm happy to keep in touch.xx

What treatment are you having etc? Xx
what was your ER, PR and HER2 status? Xx
Hi Gail, just looked at my notes to double check. I have two invasive ductal carcinomas, one with lobular pattern and high grade DCIS. Further biopsy showed low grade cells in breast tissue, also it's reached sentinel lymph node. I am Er Positive and also HER2 Positive, so will be on Herceptin. My chemo is EC-T, 3 cycles of EC starting on Monday, followed by the T part (Docetaxel) for 4 cycles. I'm more concerned about the side effects of the Docetaxel. Will then need mastectomy, radiotherapy and will be on hormone blockers for 5-10 years. Have they given you any idea of a treatment plan yet?
I have right breast carcinoma, invasive carsinoma of non-specific type with micropapillary morphologies. Whatever that means.
ER 7
PR 3
HER2 negative
my head is a mess xx
Hello and thanks for your post
I presume you have breast cancer .NST stands for ‘no special type’. It’s called this’ because the cancer cells have no features that class them as a special type of breast cancer when examined under the microscope.
As with all types of breast cancer, the treatments you’re offered will depend on the features of invasive breast cancer (NST) seen under the microscope. This includes the size, grade, hormone receptor status and HER2status.
Breast Cancer Now has some further information on this type of breast cancer at this link.
I hope this is of some help. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Celene
ER positive. Awaiting PET scan results to find out grading. E - CT for chemo
It's all a bit confusing really. I've got one letter saying I'm Er positive and HER2 positive. Another previous letter says one mass is grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma plus high grade DCIS ER8, PR8. Other mass grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma with high grade DCIS, ER8. At this time was still waiting for HER2 results, which I now know is positive. Bit confused as to whether I'm PR positive or not. I'll have to ask someone.
I think I might call my breast nurse tomorrow as I’m confused as well x
