I also asked this question at my first oncology appointment. Dr was a bit vague and said probably best to use protection. When I talked to nurse she said to wait until after day 10 after chemo, if not using protection. Not sure if it's different, depending which type of chemo you're on, would think it is. Would be interested to hear what answer you get.

Thanks for your reply. Axitinib isn't chemo, it's a cancer targeting drug and there's nothing online about it, other than don't get pregnant which isn't an issue, thankfully!

I am sorry to hear your husband is currently receiving treatment

It is my understanding as like with most other cancer drugs it is best to use a condom whilst a patient is taking axitinib. This is both to protect against pregnancy and to protect you from any of the drug that may be present in the semen.
