Hello everyone
im recently diagnosed with cancer on the left tonsil and also in two lymph nodes. I’ve been offered:
a) a choice of surgery to remove the cancer followed 6 weeks later by 6 weeks of chemo radiation or
b) no surgery but just 6 weeks chemo radiation
I really don’t know which to choose. I had rather liked the idea of cutting the cancer out first and knowing was gone with chemo radiation then used to ‘mop up’. However it seems that the outcomes are likely to be the same (hopefully a cure), but the surgery route takes 6 weeks longer because of the recovery period. I’m also worried about any physical changes surgery might bring.
Has anyone been in a similar situation - if so could you tell me what you chose and why? With hindsight would you have gone the other route?
many thanks in advance for any advice of support. I just don’t know what to do.
thank you xxx
