Hello,
I had a lumpectomy and lymph gland removal in December 2023. Surgeon successfully removed a 9mm lump, but was waiting for the results of lymph node testing.
I was informed that the lymph node tissue was sent to America to be tested, so at my January post op talks with the surgeon, he hadn't had the results back yet. He said that it was £3,000 to send tissue samples off to a lab in America, to be tested, as opposed to up to £35,000 for chemo.
I see him again early February, hopefully for test results and to see whether I go onto radiotherapy or chemo.
My friend had the exact same operation as I did, 2 weeks later than me, same surgeon, same hospital, but she has already had all her results back and now awaits radiotherapy.
Why have my tissue samples been sent to America? Apart from the above reason? How come my friend has had her result and I haven't? Weren't her tissue samples sent to America, too?????
Thanks for listening,
Fran
