Ear problem

I have just completed 4 cycles of EC and Pembro and after the last cycle I have developed a problem with fluid build up behind my ear drum. I have had this checked by the doctor and been told that it's not infected so basically to get on with it and suck some sweets. I have now had been in minor pain with it for 2 weeks and l just wanted to know if this is something that l need to contact the oncology nurses about or will it get better over time? Thank you.

I am sorry to hear you are having chemo at the moment and are having some issues with your hearing.

As your doctor has said unfortunately these drugs can affect your hearing but if it is worsening and causing you some pain it is best to let your oncology team know. They can get a doctor to reassess you to the cause and to check that you don't need any further tests or antibiotics if it is now infected.

Call your team today and see what they have to say.
