Lymphoproliferacive disorder?

What is Lymphoproliferacive disorder? I have just looked at my NHS APP and there is a diagnosis of Lymphoproliferacive disorder. Am having my lypmnoids removed in two weeks. Why couldn't they tell me face to face .. instead they put it on my app ..I am absolutely heart broken

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Yes, I can appreciate that finding out health information on an app without discussion makes it difficult to get a full explanation.

I can try to explain to a degree, but this is complex and needs your referring doctor to place it in context and say what the next steps are for you.

Lymphoproliferative disorders is a broad umbrella term used to describe an increase in white cell activity in the body. This can be due to infection, an autoimmune issue/condition, allergies, or reactions to something. So it can be benign (non cancer) in origin. It can be chronic, and detected in various blood tests. It can also suggest a type of lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes). Further tests to establish the cause may, or may not be necessary depending on the situation, and if someone has other symptoms going on as well. Otherwise, blood tests are often repeated at intervals to compare results.

I can't really tell you much more specific and suggest that you make an appointment to speak with your doctor.

I hope this is of some help,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda

  • I got a call today from hospital...am having operation this Saturday...my anxiety is so bad....I can't stop crying....I should of been seen months ago...so 14 weeks with no possible treatment which means it's had time to grow xxx

  • Hello, and thanks for your further post.

I can appreciate this has been a worrying time for you and that living with this uncertainty can be difficult. I am not surprised you are feeling anxious. I wondered what support you have for your anxiety, and if there is someone you can speak to about this.

If you want to talk things through with one of our Cancer Information Nurses directly you would be welcome to contact us on freephone 0808 800 4040. We are available between 9am and 5pm.

The surgery will provide the doctors with more information about what type of disorder you have, and help them to plan any necessary treatment. It sounds like you have been waiting a long time to have the surgery and this is also worrying for you.  It might be worth speaking to the medical team at the hospital about your concerns as they will know more about your situation.

I hope your operation goes well on Saturday and you are able to have more clarity about your situation.

    Take care,

    Jemma
