Hello,
I recently had surgery to remove a complex ovarian cyst. I was told prior to surgery there were some features which may indicate something malignant, but also some features that looked more benign. They had said pre surgery they were attempting keyhole but wanted to avoid bursting the cyst as it wouldn't be good for the contents to go into the pelvis incase it is cancerous - they said they may convert the op to open midway if needed to get it out ok.
So, when I came around from the operation they had done it keyhole, which I was really pleased about. However, the following day on the ward I was seen by the doctor, but it was a different person t the surgeon that did the procedure. He said it says in the notes that some of the cyst contents got spilled into me during the surgery, but that shouldn't cause a problem. I didn't really take it i properly at the time, ️ which is why I'm asking now.
I'm assuming if it turns out to be benign, then it doesn't matter at all.
However, what might the consequences of this be if it is either a borderline cyst or cancerous? Will this spillage mean I need more treatment?
Any advice about this from the nurses or anyone that may have experienced something similar would be very much appreciated.
Thanks you x
