Long wait to be seen.

I saw my GP 2 weeks ago for a breast lump. Referred UCS to clinic. Phoned appointments today as haven’t heard anything. They are unable to give me a time frame for when I will be seen. Just said they are very busy and I would be out on a waiting list. I asked if we were talking a few weeks or longer and they were unable to say how long and that they were not guaranteeing any waiting times for the clinic. I know I am being inpatient but I’m also worried and stressed. Even if I knew it would be 6-8 weeks until I was being seen I would at least have a date to work towards and not just worry that it could be months before I’m seen. Realistically how long should I wait before I speak to my GP again about waiting times? I thought if I hadn’t heard by the end of august that would be long enough to phone and ask again? Or does that seem too pushy. Even if it is something sinister a few weeks won’t make any difference but I’m not sleeping. I’ve already lost weight as I’m not eating and I’m trying to appear unconcerned around my partner

  • That must be terrible waiting and worrying with no timescale for an appointment ,especially as you say you are reminded of it all the time you never know you could get your appointment through suddenly but there are so many people waiting longer than usual it seems to be getting worse not better ,let us know how you get on x

  • I know what you are going through , luckily I was seen within 4 weeks . Waiting is terrible and your brain works overtime .iIf I were you , I would phone and check

where you are on waiting list at breast clinic . Hoping things get sorted soon for you

  • When I spoke to appointments they wouldn’t give me any indication. Just said there was no waiting time guarantee. I asked if that meant it could be 4-8 weeks or longer and they said they couldn’t say either way so not any further forward. I asked if I didn’t hear anything in a few weeks coukd I phone back and they said I could but they wouldn’t be able to give me any further details and I wouldn’t be given an appointment over the phone a letter will be posted out when I was allocated an appointment so it’s just a waiting game x
