I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with melanoma. I can understand how unsettling it must be to wait to hear more.

The stage of the melanoma is decided once the specimen has been removed and looked at by the pathologist. They will look at the thickness of the mole as well as what the cells look like. 

Once it is reviewed by the pathologist it will be discussed in a formal meeting called an MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team) meeting where all the doctors involved in your care will reach a decision about the stage and treatment of the melanoma.

Hi do bigger melanoma  in diameter mean they are more dangerous mines 14mm with a tan border and dark raised patches and dark dots. Its just below right ankle. I think its more likely t be a superficial melanoma. I just can't remember  what it looked like originally or when it started changing. I do not have any sign of swollen leg or any lumps.

If you are concerned about an area of skin, or a mole, then do make an appointment to see your GP. Tell them if you think there has been a recent change in its appearance. They can assess it and then advise you further. Most of the time, it is not anything serious, but it it sensible to get any concerns checked out.

Are head mri and ct scans done for precaution for nodular melanoma my melanoma is 2mm breslow.im not ill or anything just so worried its going to be bad got mri scan tomorrow.

As part of the process to stage a cancer often scans are needed to check for spread to nearby lymph nodes or other parts of the body. This is a common procedure so try not to over think things too much for now if you can.

Once the doctors have more information they can discuss the stage with you and any other treatment that may be needed after surgery.

I have my wle and slnb tomorrow under general anesthesia cani still have this surgery on period

Having your period will not be a problem with an operation or anaesthetic. For your comfort it will be good to let them know though so that they are aware.
