MELONOMA Preventative AFTERCARE TREATMENT

Hi ,I am so fortunate and grateful that my  stage2 Melonoma  WLE and SNB came back clear.

I have an appointment for Oncology re preventative  aftercare treatment with immunology drugs.

I am finding it hard to research this, so that I can have a good questions and answers at my appointment.

Can you direct me to any sites that show the treatment I might be on, other treatments available and possible side effects ta Nigel

  • Hi Nigel,

I'm not a nurse but I have been a melanoma patient for many years and I have some information that will be of a help to you. I've sent you a friend request - if you accept it I can send this information by a private message. Meanwhile, good resources to check out are Melanoma Focus and Melanoma UK. Adjuvant treatment was only made available to newly diagnosed Stage 2 patients last summer but newly diagnosed Stage 3 patients have been receiving it since 2018.

  • Hello there Nigel and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to hear about your situation but good to hear the surgery went well.

We also have information here about targeted drugs and immunotherapy for melanoma that you might find useful to read. When you click on the different drugs there is information about what they do and the possible side effects as well.

As Angie T has already said there are other sites where you can access information and of course your own specialist team will be able to confirm the name of the drug they are wanting you to have. As Angie T also mentioned as of the end of last year Pembrolizumab here was approved by NICE for  use in stage 2 melanoma patients within the NHS.

I hope this is helpful but do get back if you have more questions or if you wish to talk things through with one of the nurses our number is 0808 800 4040 weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
