I’m worried I have lymphoma

I am a teenage girl, I am super worried I have lymphoma. I have had 3 swollen lymph nodes in my neck for about 5 months. Then about 3 months ago I found another 3 in my groin. 1 week ago I found one in my armpit and 3 days ago another in the other armpit. I have had a blood test 3 months ago I think it was, due for another two. I have low hemoglobin causing shortness of breath. I've also had extreme dizziness and nausea for a while now. Also, my rib cage on the left hand side is noticeably sticking out further than the left, but I don't have scoliosis. Can someone help me?

  • I really don't know what to do.... I told my mum about everything and I don't know why, she didn't believe me. I told my dad, he didn't really care. I need help

  • Hi, im not sure what age you are but if you are over 16, try and make a doctors appointment yourself, if not maybe just ask your mum to make you a doctors appointment just to check. If she is still against it then try and get one for something else and bring it up to the GP when you speak to them, im really sorry youre going through this. Maybe one of the nurses would be able to help you if you give the phone line a ring :)

  • Thanks, I'm 15. That's a good idea, I might do that! I'm freaking out right now, just found another quite large lymph node

  • Hello

As the others have suggested it would be best to go and see your doctor.  Only they will be able to tell you what it might be.  Most lumps and bumps turn out not to be cancer, so try not to worry too much, but it sounds like you need to get these checked to be on the safe side.  As far as I know, you should be able to get a GP appointment without your parents knowing, so give the surgery a call yourself or pop in and make an appointment.

But remember, that lymph nodes become enlarged for lots of different reasons, so although it is important to get things checked it could very easily turn out to be something much less serious than cancer. Unfortunately until you are seen by a doctor you won't be able to get any answers either here on Cancer Chat or anywhere else on the internet. So make an appointment to see your GP soon so that they can either diagnose you or put your mind at rest.

I hope you get some answers soon.

    Take care

    Martin

  • Thank you. As it happens, it's good but not, I've got an ear infection today so my mum will be taking me to the gp for that!
