It can be a worrying time when you are waiting to find out what the next step will be.

When cancer cells have been found in the lymph nodes you can be offered surgery called a lymph node clearance as Laraj said. 

This is an operation that takes place under general anaesthetic.  You will have all the lymph nodes removed from your armpit.  You can find out more about it here.  Some people are offered radiotherapy instead, but this rarely happens.  Your surgeon or oncologist will be able to give more details about this when you speak to them.
