Hi. My close friend's husband, who is also a very dear friend, has been diagnosed with a 6cm tumour in his bowel. Surgery is scheduled in a week to remove the tumour and I want to be able to support them both. They are still processing the news as it is such a shock and I want to be able to support them correctly, without bombarding them with questions of my own so I haven't asked what stage the cancer is at, nor the long term prognosis. Would someone be able to give me some idea of what to expect? The information I have is that the tumour is 6cm, it hasn't spread outside the bowel and the surgery will hopefully be keyhold surgery. What stage would this cancer be and will the surgery get rid of it, or will he still need ongoing treatment? Thank you.
