Breast cancer diagnosis

Hi

i've just been diagnosed with I think IDC but not 100% as the whole appointment was a complete blur. The Consultant said it was the most common, very treatable and I would go on to live a normal life but I'm absolutely terrified and have done nothing but cry since I was told.

He said the tumour was 2-3 cm (don't know if that's big or small) and there were cancer cells present under my arm.  I have a CT scan booked for tomorrow morning and I'm scared that the diagnosis could be worse. Is that possible? Would they tell me it treatable if that wasn't the case? I then have to have chemo and then surgery. Why have they suggested I have chemo first? I'm all over the place at the moment, don't know what to think.

  • Hello well I won't say don't worry because we all do,but try not too, they wouldn't say it was treatable of it wasn't.The reason you have chemo first is to shrink the lump.I went through it all I also had chemo and then tje operation and after I had radiotherapy,I just like to tell people it's not always doom and gloom, thankfully they took all the cancer away.Try not to overthink things as our minds to run away with us,just stay positive and if you ever need to talk on here then I'm here to listen.Take care x

  • Hi

Thank you. I'm just terrified about the whole thing. I've just gone through it all with a friend who has now thankfully recovered and now it's happening to me, I can't take it in.

The CT scan results are really bothering me, just scared they'll find more than what I've already been told. I'm trying to be positive but it's hard. Just need tomorrow out of the way.

I'm pleased you're doing OK and thank you for your message.
