Been unwell for 6 months

Hi

I've been unwell since September, dizziness headaches it just came out of the blue, I've had MRI head scan & cat scans, I've had blood tests non stop but all normal, my body aches and I constantly feel fatigue.
I feel like the doctors are missing something, I have pain in my left breast and a constant bruise in my shin I haven't knocked it either. I've also lost 2 stone in weight since jan 9st to 7

my throat feels like it's closing up on me and I have trouble with putting my chin down to the left side, my neck hurts plus I have a ulcer on the back of my throat that hasn't gone I've had it for almost 5 months

I feel like I'm over exaggerating but nothing adds up , I'm 37 and I've always been fit and healthy but I struggle every day with normal tasks

is there anyone who has anything similar to me as I'm going out of my mind with worry

thank you

  • Hi, sorry to hear you're feeling so unwell lately.

Go back to your GP and let them examine your throat, could be a viral infection.

Do you think the pain and swelling is preventing you eating as much as usual?

If you're eating as normal and have the same level of activity but losing weight then GP needs to look for digestive issues.

I have Chronic Fatigue/ME which can gave similar symptoms but diagnosis slways involves ruling other things out first.

It's also worth noting that stress can cause many physical symptoms ( or exaggerate existing ) so if you have been through or still going through a stressful situation it can really knock you down.

Write it all down and book another appointment asap and face to face, not over the telephone.

Try not to worry in the meantime and pace yourself with the everyday tasks and rest when you feel you need to. Do ask friends and family for help.

    Take care

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and I can imagine how difficult it must be when the doctors can't explain why you are feeling as you are.

When patients present with symptoms doctors have guidelines about different tests such as blood tests and scans which it looks like they have done. Sometimes it can take a while to find out the cause of symptoms and most will not mean a cancer diagnosis.

The patients association has written some useful information about getting the most from your GP's appointment which you can see here

Even though it is supportive hearing from other members of the forum everyone is so different so it is difficult to compare one person's symptoms with another.

Do continue to go back to your GP if your symptoms don't get better.

I do hope that you feel better soon.

    All the Best,

    Catherine
