Worried about vulva cancer?

I've always had what I think is a mole on my labia, over the past few months I have noticed that I have several more of them on my vulva. They are not painful and are flat, I have had irratation a few months back but it turnt out to be an infection. I am an overly anxious person and worry that it might be something more sinister, I am embarrassed to show the doctors as I have not shown anyone before and I am not sexually active so it feels very personal to me.

I don't know if it is normal to have dark spots/moles on your vulva and if so is it normal for more to appear?

I would appreciate any advice please.
Thank-you :)

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

It is not uncommon to have skin patches/spots on your vulva, but we would always advise that anyone concerned about any new ones/or changes, gets them checked out by a doctor (GP), for their own peace of mind. Doctors are very used to being asked to look at various lumps and bumps in intimate areas, most days in their practice, and will do their best to make you feel at ease. You can ask to see a female doctor too.

    I hope that this helps,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda

  • Thank-you so much for your advice, I think I'm going to book an appointment just to be on the safe side. I just need to put my fears aside as I would hate to leave it and it be something that I regret.
