Post-surgery bra straight after surgery?

Just a quick question... I'm going to have a lumpectomy on 31st Jan; will I need to wear my post-surgery bra straight after surgery? I don't know if the area will be too tender or too bandaged to be able to wear a bra at all, so wondering if I'll need to take one in my hospital bag?

Many thanks, Nicola.

  • Hi and thanks for posting

You've had some good replies already from people who have had breast surgery.

As it may be uncomfortable initially after surgery wearing a bra, some people may find it more comfortable wearing a sports vest. Everyone is different though also according to shape and size, so do pack both. There is also some good information here on the Breast Cancer Now site on your Operation and Recovery which may be helpful

I'm sure your breast cancer nurse will also be able to advise you.

I hope you have a good recovery

    All the best
