Left Breast Pain

My left breast is constantly sore, the kind of soreness that you get during your menstrual cycle but just in one breast. The breast feels harder and bigger than the right side breast also. I do believe that I am in the peri menopause and have googled if this can happen. A lot of sites say that this can happen in one breast but as I had breast cancer six years ago in the other breast I am a little worried. Has anyone had anything similar or know if this is a symptom of the peri menopause? Grateful for any responses.

  • Hi there hope you are ok. I am going through something similar, left breast is tender and noticeably larger now, and sort of harder. Forgot to mention the size difference, but the doctor has reffered me on the basis of the discomfort/anxiety I am feeling surrounding it. Nervous and confused, I'm 32 with a toddler and have had a few health worries over the last year and just struggling xx

  • Hi there, I hope you are okay. It sounds exactly the same as the problem that I am experiencing. I haven't been to the doctor yet as most of what I have read seems to be linked to the peri menopause, but I think my next step is certainly a trip to the doctors. Thank you for responding, I hope that you get your mind put at ease soon. Try not to worry (I know that's easy to say but not easy to do) as normally anything more sinister is without pain. Let me know how you get on.

  • I hope the doctors can reassure you and help you get to the bottom of your symptoms- you must call them and arrange an appointment!

i think I just find this site reassuring as sometimes Friends and family just don't understand if they're not going through the same sort of worries themselves!

doesn't help that I have a few different things going on and it just feels like one thing after another.

let me know how you get on and hope all is well! X

  • Hello Ng1976 and thanks for posting,

I can understand you asking, but I think to be on the safe side you need to be wary about drawing any conclusions even if someone comes along and posts with exactly the same sort of thing. A lot of people are concerned not to waste their GP's time, but in situations like this they would want to hear from you so I think you are right to say that your next step should be to see the doctors and get their input.

I hope you can get an appointment easily and that they are able to reassure you.

    Wishing you the best,

    Julia

  • Hello there

I am sorry to hear about the breast changes you have noticed and understand they must be a worry.

Breast pain alone isn't usually a sign of breast cancer and is often caused by something much less serious, so try not to over think things for now.

It is good to hear your GP has referred you to the breast unit so you can be checked out more closely. If they need to do further tests they can do but hopefully they will be able to reassure you and give you some peace of mind.

I wish you all the best

    Take care

    Naomi
