Hello. I was diagnosed with DCIS a couple of months ago. I have been told that surgery is my only option (other than doing nothing) and have had three breast biopsies. I will be getting the results of the last one when I go to see my consultant on Wednesday where it will be decided what sort of surgery will be best. Either a partial or full mastectomy. My initial thoughts when I was first diagnosed was to have a full one and just get rid of the cancer but when I saw the consultant and she told me that I couldn’t have an implant and would have to have a flap reconstruction it sounded a horrendous operation with longer recovery than a partial so it now depends on what they found on the third biopsy whether or not I have a choice. I’ve been putting on a brave face but I am truly terrified by the whole thing.
