Hi Everyone my title is Tonybear and whilst not being a GP have worked withing the NHS for many years as a social worker dealing with mental health . I did however attend university ,aged 50 , and eventually end up with an MSC in four areas namely , brain injury and neuroscience , immortalised cells eg cancers , addiction and lots of psycholgy stuff . I have never stopped studying medical things . Now aged 72 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer stage T3N0M0 , and have now completed 37 radiotherapy fractions and have to take hormones for 3 years . I have spent the last 6 months researching prostate cancer and would be delighted to answer any questions you may have . Many people worry quite unnecessarily because they refuse to learn about this illness . There exists at least 24 variants of prostate cancer so everyone is completely different . I have come across people with PSA readings of almost 4000 and they do not have anything wrong with them , this reading does become vital however after treatment because nothing guarantees total elimination of any cancer its just that tiny ones are missed even by the scans . These take a very long time to regrow so further treatment is often required and indeed expected . Whatever you decide to do Godd Luck Tonybear
