Aged 57, with 2 daughters 27 and 26, and a wonderful husband. I enjoy looking at countryside views and historical sites. I was diagnosed with metestatic melanoma in July/ August 2015, Unknown primary, but extensive spread to my lymph nodes in my pelvic and abdominal area. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy not an option but I'm braf positive. I've been on Dabrafenib since August, tumours shrinking. In February 2016 now on a reduced dose. I am incurable but treatable, I have been advised statistically speaking less than a year, so I have spent 5 months progressing getting my work pension early. I had already left work in April 2015 before my diagnosis as I felt unwell and my mother was very ill and passed away in April. I thought about a trip to Japan to see my daughter who lives there but don't think I've got the energy to arrange insurance, Drs letters and work out when I can and can't eat for my tablets. So I'm trying sightseeing days out round and about with local friends.
Now nearing May 2016 and I'm about to start Pembrolizumab as Dabrafenib has stepped working for me. I'm disappointed and apprehensive at the moment.
