About TD1

I am 60 years of age and 3 years ago I was diagnosed with MGUS which was a complete shock.  During this time I have had 3 monthly blood tests to check my M paraprotein levels which have been steadily increasing.  It is a very rare condition and a small percentage of people go on to develop myeloma. There is no cure and it’s all about managing the symptoms as best I can.

Over the last few months I have developed certain symptoms which seem to be pointing towards those of myeloma and after speaking with my haematologist he has arranged an urgent appointment with me next week.  The next step I believe is a bone marrow biopsy from my hip as this will confirm the diagnosis.  Scary times ahead but trying to stay positive until I know exactly what I am dealing with.
