My name is Ross B and I am 82 years old this month. In my working life I was a pharmacist for 40 years. I stay in Scotland. In April of this year, 2026, I had a CT scan to check for a suspected aortic aneurysm - my aorta was perfectly healthy, but the scan showed a mass on my small intestine and smaller lumps on my liver. More tests lead to a diagnosis of a Stage 4 neuroendocrine tumour which was grade 3, and metastases on my liver. I have just started a life long course of monthly injections which are designed to give me a better quality of life. There is no cure for this cancer, but the treatment should hopefully stop further growth of the tumour, and even fingers crossed will reduce the size.
There is no point in asking what my life expectancy is because I am 82, and I don't have many years left anyway, but hopefully the treatment will make these years more comfortable. My thoughts are with younger folk whose life is being affected by this bloody awful disease.
