About Pinkcandoone

Hi I'm a woman with Stage 4 incurable, but treatable (for the moment at least) NSC lung cancer. Was only diagnosed three months ago and am gradually getting over the shocked phase but slowly morphing into angry mode, so please excuse the rant. It's slowly dawning on me that some cancers are stigmatised, unfairly so in my opinion. Which is adding another whole level of stress to what's already a hugely stressful time for me. I feel as if I can't talk openly about it to people in real life. I've never been any good at fundraising and I am full of admiration for those who are good at it, so i suppose this is my way of trying to do my bit, even though its a very small bit, towards waking people up to the fact that nobody, and I mean nobody, deserves cancer. And all people with cancer should be treated with care, compassion and dignity. So you will probably hear me moan about this a fair bit (well I did say I was still at the angry phase) But if it just gets one or two people really thinking about things then it's job done as far as I'm concerned Oh yes. almost forgot. I've never smoked! I get asked that a LOT! even by some of my health carers, people who you would think would know better. And even if I did, or had smoked, people who smoke or used to smoke Also deserve kindness and compassion. Save the judgement for the tobacco companies. Can anybody, hand on heart say that they've led a life free from any vices? Have you ever eaten processed meat? Ever drank alcohol? Ever laid in the sun? Ever eaten too much sugar, Ever had unprotected sex? Ever been overweight? Ever bottle fed instead of breastfeeding your baby? The above may seem like crazy examples but its now thought those above actions may contribute towards certain cancers. Obviously the point I'm trying to make is, cancer is a terrible thing and it can strike anybody, at any time, no matter your lifestyle Thanks for listening
