About oldbutbold

Male, 67, widower.

Out of the blue, was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in Nov 2021 following a routine blood test showed a high PSA level (85).  I had no symptoms.

Immediate hormone-suppression therapy (3-monthly Decapeptyl) reduced PSA to below 1, indicating the cancer is now dormant.  March 2024 test result was 0.04.

Also had a course of chemo and radio therapy in 2022, which I tolerated well.  Currently I feel fine and hoping that long may it last!

Sadly, I've had some experience of the journey I'm on as my wife died of breast cancer a few months before my own surprise diagnosis.

She had been diagnosed five years previously and, rightly or wrongly, I have the same sort of timescale in mind for my own journey.
