I went for a routine mammogram in December last year and was recalled to be advised that I had DCIS "Ducal Carcinoma in Situ", had a vacuum biopsy a couple of days before Christmas & x-ray confirming about 6 dots of calcium and got my diagnosis on New Years eve. Saw the surgeon the first week in January confirming low to intermediate DCIS of 3cm and had a lumpectomy the first week in February, started 5 weeks of radiotherapy in April, a bit anxious and wondering how I will cope with the treatment.
Mid May, now completed 25 doses of radiation and still feeling pretty good. I am working every day in the mornings up to 1 o'clock, this seems to work for me, keeping the part-time hours up until end of June to allow for the "peak" of radiation two weeks after completion.
